Re Sorting Averages

I calculate a column of averages from a twelve row table each row holding 5 to 7 numerical data entries.

For some rows there are 5 data entries, other rows have 6 entries, others 7.

Each Average is calculated by summing the numerical row entries (cols F:L) then dividing by Count (col P).

I cannot figure out how to apply AVERAGEIF

Goal: sort the column of Averages (col M) from High to Low.

To Sort I go to Data, press the down arrow (A-Z) and select 'Continue with current selection'.

This does not consistently sort the calculated Averages from High to Low; sometimes the sort is correct, other times it is not.

How do I attach the s'sheet for Group analysis?

Thank you -

Nat Pulsifer

    Thank you -

I am not clear on how to upload my file.

I do not see Insert/File tabs on this email.

An earlier respondent described a complex process, steps of which are above my pay grade.

    Suggestions?

Also what is your email address?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Nathaniel Pulsifer,

As per your description, please don’t worry we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

You may use a PivotTable to calculate the average for example **** create Pivot Table in your Excel workbook and then **** drag **** and drop the Fields in the different areas of your Pivot Table. Then Right Click in any of the Pivot Table values and choose Summarize Values By > Average and sort your data.

Meanwhile, if you don't mind, could you please upload your file and we can look from our side, and we will help you to check this behavior and verify the result with you.

I appreciate your understanding and stay safe!!

    Best Regards

Simple way, use a PivotTable to calculate the average for you, then apply a sort to that column.

You cannot "attach" files to this forum (too hard to program (. You have to give us a "share edit" link to the file in your onedrive:
