Hi Hajni I
Welcome to the forum. My name is Segunfunmi, and I am an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user just like you. I appreciate you reaching out to me with your query.
I understand that you’re having trouble with the numbering of your bibliography in a Word document. Here are some steps you can follow to correct the numbering:
Word has a feature that can automatically number your references. You can add a new reference, and it will be numbered correctly. If you add a new reference at the beginning, it will be numbered as “1”, and the next will be automatically changed to “2”, etc.
You can create a bibliography with cited sources in your document. Put your cursor where you want the bibliography. Go to References > Bibliography and choose a format. If you cite a new source, add it to the bibliography by clicking anywhere in the bibliography and selecting Update Citations and Bibliography.
If you want to change the numbering in a numbered list, right-click the number you want to change. Click Set Numbering Value. Use the arrows to change the value to the number you want in the Set value box.
In the Word Options dialog, in the left pane, select Proofing. In the right pane, under AutoCorrect options, choose AutoCorrect Options. Select the AutoFormat as You Type tab. Under Apply as you type, clear the Automatic numbered lists check box, and then select OK.
I hope these steps help you correct the numbering in your Word document’s bibliography.
I hope that the information provided has been helpful to you. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.
Warm regards Segunfunmi
