OneNote Error Code: 0xE00009C8 bb0ur

Hello,

I am continually getting this error code (0xE00009C8 bb0ur) on one of my notebooks that I use. It was working fine on the OneNote app for mac before I accidentally closed the notebook. When I tried to reopen the notebook, I was prompted with the error code and the message stating "there aren't any sections here". As I was in the middle of work, I opened OneNote on the website and continued using the online notebook. From the online site, I tried opening the notebook back on the app and still getting the constant error code. Here is a list of all the things I and IT support at my organisation have tried:

  • Signing out then back into office
  • Deleting office365 completely off my mac
  • Reinstalling and signing in
  • Opening from OneDrive
  • Checking that OneDrive is up to date with syncing
  • Clearing Cache in OneNote app folder

Please help as I would prefer to be using the app version compared to the website.

    UPDATE:

I had some spare time today so was playing around with the notebook. After trying multiple different options I ended up moving the original file location to somewhere different on my OneDrive. Moved the file and opened notebook through OneNote and all is working perfectly. Thank you for your assistance. What do you think could've been the issue? Possibly a broken file path?

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

I have updated my Mac Os to the most update version and have ensured that office 365 is up to date as well.

I'd prefer not to create another profile as I would hate for my existing profile to present a problem as a result.

I appreciate all of your help.

    Dear Jett Burmester,

Thanks for posting back and we really appreciate your precious time doing those tests.

We recommend you try the following suggestions to check the outcome:

    1. Update macOS and Office to the Latest Version
    2. Test with a New User Profile
      • To confirm if the problem is cause by account backend end service or the local environment,  we suggest you creating a new user profile on Mac and see if any improvement. It is worth trying because it will help you narrow down whether the issue is caused by a specific corrupted user profile.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us troubleshoot this further. Feel free to post any updates.

Thanks for your time and cooperation! We hope you have a nice day, stay safe and healthy.😊

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
