Windows 11 Boot Performance Issues After Installation

After upgrading to Windows 11, the installation was slow but completed. However, I experienced a BSOD the following day, a rarity since using Windows 7.

Currently, the boot process is extremely slow—taking enough time to make a cup of tea and load the dishwasher before reaching the login screen, followed by an additional 5 minutes of inactivity before the system becomes usable.

Once everything is loaded, the system performs well. The system specifications are: HP i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and 800GB of free space. The most recent update installed is the July 24H2.

Are there any suggestions to improve boot performance, apart from switching to Linux?

Thanks in advance!

    Hello Ivan

I reset it & it's okay now but still slow to my mind, much quicker now. Strangely it would not create a recovery drive..."we're sorry, we don't know what happened"....So helpful! - downloaded Hiren should anything horrid happen.

I just treated myself to an iMac 27" - screen is mahoosive, after years on a laptop - 2nd hand I might add.

My Windows journey ends here (until 12 perhaps) but thanks for the interest shown, all the best.

    Hi ,

The problem is the hard drive. You're probably experiencing 100% disk capacity, and the hard drive is much slower than the SSD, hence the slow boot times.

To solve this problem, you would need to upgrade your hard drive to an SSD.

Another thing: I believe your PC isn't compatible with Windows 11. It depends on the configuration. It's not recommended to force-install Windows 11 unofficially. Once your PC is identified, it will stop receiving updates.

    Hi ,

Is it strange that you're using an HD or SSD?

If possible, access msinfo32.exe in the search bar, take a screenshot, and post it here.

If it is a laptop or desktop ?

    Thanks
