Hello Carol, I’m Henry, and I’d like to offer some insight regarding your concern.

It appears that your system is running a virtualization layer—even if the main Hyper-V feature for creating virtual machines hasn’t been explicitly enabled. To fully disable this layer, you can follow the steps below:

    1. Disable Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Platform, and Windows Hypervisor Platform
      • Go to “Turn Windows features on or off” and uncheck these items.
    2. Turn off Memory Integrity
      • Open Windows Security settings
      • Navigate to Device Security > Core Isolation
      • Disable Memory Integrity
    3. Run the following command as administrator: bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
      • This ensures the hypervisor is disabled during system startup
      • Restart your computer to apply changes

Hope one of these works for you.

    Dear Carol Stewart,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A.

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with Brother PE11 Embroidery software on your new Windows 11 laptop.

    1. Disable core virtualization and security features:
      • Go to Start > Search for "Core isolation"
      • In the Core isolation settings, turn off the toggle for Memory integrity
      • Restart your computer
      • Go to Start > Search for "Turn Windows features on or off"
      • In the list appears, uncheck the boxes for: HyperV (ensure all its sub-folders are also unchecked), Virtual Machine Platform, Windows Hypervisor Platform
      • Click OK and restart your computer
    2. Disable virtualization in BIOS/UEFI:
      • Go to Settings > System > Recovery
      • Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
      • Your computer will restart to a blue screen with options. Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings.
      • Once in the BIOS/UEFI menu, look for settings related to "Virtualization Technology," "Intel VT-x," "AMD-V," or "SVM Mode." The exact naming and location will vary depending on your laptop's manufacturer.
      • Disable this setting, save your changes, and exit the BIOS/UEFI. Your computer will then restart.

    3. Unchecking Windows PowerShell:

      • In the list, find and uncheck Windows PowerShell
      • Click OK then restart your computer
