I seem to all of a sudden receive 50+ junk emails a day from gaming companies that I have never subscribed to or been affiliated with. I 'Report as 'Phishing and Junk' to Microsoft through Outllook on daily basis but still receive from same companies and a growing amount more each day. How can you prevent a company or domain name from sending unwanted emails, other than what I am reporting to Microsoft and have been, as situation is not reducing unwanted emails? What is Microsoft actioning to limit this daily harassment, please? For both New and Classic Outlook, there is no change. Thank you

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Are these spam emails showing up in your Inbox, or are they already going into Junk Email? That helps me figure out what’s happening on your end.

If they’re landing in your Inbox, here’s something you can do to start blocking them:

    • At the top of your Outlook page, select Settings.
    • Choose Mail > Junk email.
    • Under Blocked senders and domains, select Add blocked sender.
    • Enter the email address you want to block. If you want to block an entire domain (for example, everything from @spamdomain.com), you can enter the domain name instead.
    • Select OK, then Save.

For more, please see "Filter junk email and spam in Outlook" https://support.microsoft.com/office/filter-junk-email-and-spam-in-outlook-db786e79-54e2-40cc-904f-d89d57b7f41d

Also, did this start suddenly today, or has it been happening for a while? A sudden wave like this can sometimes mean your email was exposed somewhere.

To reduce the amount of junk email you receive, especially from companies you haven't subscribed to, you can take several steps in addition to reporting them as phishing or junk:

    1. Block Senders: In Outlook, you can block specific email addresses or domains. This prevents emails from those senders from reaching your inbox. You can do this by right-clicking on the email and selecting "Block" or adding them to your blocked senders list in the settings.
    2. Use Rules: Set up rules in Outlook to automatically move emails from certain senders or with specific keywords to your Junk folder or delete them outright. This can help manage unwanted emails more effectively.
    3. Adjust Junk Email Filter Settings: Ensure that your junk email filter is set to a higher level of protection. You can find this in the settings under the "Junk Email" options.
    4. Unsubscribe: If you find that you are receiving emails from companies that offer an unsubscribe option, use it to remove yourself from their mailing lists.
    5. Educate Yourself on Phishing: Understanding what phishing looks like can help you identify and avoid suspicious emails before they become a problem. Microsoft provides resources on recognizing phishing attempts and other email threats.

Microsoft continuously works on improving its spam filtering technologies to help reduce the amount of junk email that reaches users' inboxes. However, due to the evolving nature of spam and phishing tactics, it can sometimes take time for these systems to adapt and improve.

If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance, as they may provide additional options or insights into your specific situation.
