I wanted to set up facial recognition on my laptop (Asus TUF A16 Nepal's variant). but it says, "This function is currently unavailable." and "We could not find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face." Why?

In order for facial recognition to work, your camera needs to have the infrared feature. If it is just a regular camera, even if it is high definition, it will not support facial recognition.

You can go to your computer's manufacturer website, look up the specs for your specific model to see if your camera is an infrared (IR) one to verify your hardware eligibility.

If you need help verifying that, I can help you look it up. please type msinfo32.exe in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, then share a screenshot of the pop up please.

The message "This function is currently unavailable." and "We could not find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face." indicates that your laptop may not have the required hardware for facial recognition with Windows Hello. For Windows Hello facial recognition to work, your device must have a compatible camera that meets specific biometric requirements. This typically includes a camera that can capture images in infrared (IR) light to differentiate between a live person and a photograph.

If your Asus TUF A16 variant does not have such a camera, or if the camera is not properly configured or recognized by the operating system, you will encounter these issues. You may want to check the following:

    1. Ensure that your camera drivers are up to date.
    2. Verify that your camera supports Windows Hello facial recognition.
    3. Check if there are any settings in the BIOS or operating system that need to be enabled for the camera to function properly.

If the camera is not compatible, you may need to consider using an alternative sign-in method, such as a PIN or fingerprint recognition, if available on your device.
