    Hi Tyra Baby,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. I'm happy to help.

Did you install necessary drivers for your laptop? If you did not do so, please navigate to your laptop support page, download and install the drivers.

If you have trouble finding them, please provide me your laptop model and the Windows version you're using.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi!

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Can I get a bit more information like when you say "volume doesn't work" are you pertaining to the Prism monitor itself to produce the output sound or you have external speakers or headphone?

Use Windows sound settings and basic checks to get audio working with the new monitor.

    1. Check monitor and cable
    • If the monitor is connected with VGA, audio will not be sent over that cable; sound will come from the PC or separate speakers instead.
    • If using HDMI or DisplayPort, make sure the monitor actually has built‑in speakers; if it does not, use external speakers/headphones.
    • Make sure the monitor’s own volume is turned up and not muted (use the monitor’s on‑screen menu/buttons).
    1. Select the correct output device in Windows 11
    2. Select the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
    3. Select the arrow to the right of the volume slider (Select a sound output).
    4. Choose the device you want:
      • If the monitor has speakers and is listed (often as the monitor name or HDMI/Display audio), select that.
      • Otherwise select Speakers or the audio device for your PC or external speakers.
    5. Check volume and mute status
    6. Right‑click the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
    7. Open the volume mixer (or More mixer settings), and make sure:
      • The main device is not muted and volume is up.
      • App volumes (browser, media player, etc.) are not muted.
    8. Set the correct default audio device (if needed)
    9. Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
    10. Under Output, select the device you want to use (monitor audio or PC speakers). Selecting it sets it as default.
    11. If there is still no sound
    • Run the audio troubleshooter:
      1. Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      2. Run the Audio troubleshooter.
    • If Windows shows “No audio device installed” or similar, check Device Manager and reinstall/update the audio driver from the PC or motherboard manufacturer.

If the monitor has no speakers or uses VGA, connect separate speakers or headphones to the PC or to the monitor’s audio‑out jack (if it has one), then select that device as the output in Windows.
