Somehow, I got offline while using Outlook - I hit the offline button to get online, but nothing happens. I even changed my password, and that still did not help.

    Hi, let me help you.

Please try the Reset Navigation Pane fix.

    Close Outlook completely, then press:

    Windows Key + R

    Type:

    outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Press Enter, then open Outlook again.

In Outlook, being offline usually means either Outlook is set to Work Offline or it cannot reach the mail server/network.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Confirm Outlook is not set to Work Offline
      • On the Outlook menu (for Mac) make sure Work Offline is not checked. If it is, click Work Offline again to clear it and go online.
    2. Check the account/server connection
      • Go to Tools > Accounts.
      • In the left pane, select the email/Exchange account.
      • If there is a connection problem, the indicator icon for the account will be orange.
      • If this is an Exchange account, try signing in with Outlook on the web. If web access works but Outlook does not, the issue is local to Outlook or the device.
    3. Verify network connectivity
      • Make sure the computer is connected to the internet (open a browser and confirm other sites load).
      • If the network is down or restricted, Outlook will stay offline even if Work Offline is disabled.
    4. If using Exchange and still not receiving items
      • With Outlook online and connected, but still not syncing, the local cache may be corrupted.
      • In the navigation pane, Ctrl+click or right‑click the affected Exchange folder and select Properties.
      • On the General tab, choose Empty Cache.
      • Outlook will re-download items from the Exchange server. This deletes anything not yet synced to the server, so ensure the account is fully server-based before doing this.

If none of these steps restore online status, contact the email or network administrator to confirm the mail server is available and that the account settings (server name, credentials, ports, SSL) are correct.
