undo changes made today

Question

My daughter, who is usually really good with technology, made some changes today with my files, folders, pictures. Most of change regarding iCloud, and One Drive issues. Now all the access is kind of messed up. At least I'm having trouble finding stuff. How can I undo the changes she made and just go back to earlier today settings?

To roll back today’s changes, there are two main options depending on what exactly changed: restore individual files to earlier versions, or restore the entire OneDrive to a previous point in time.

1. Restore individual files/folders using Version History If files were edited or reorganized but still exist:
2. Go to the OneDrive website and sign in with the correct account.
3. Find a file that looks wrong (for example, a document or picture).
4. Select the file name.
5. Select Version History.
6. Choose an earlier version from before today’s changes.
7. Select Restore to replace the current file with that older version.

In Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for files stored in OneDrive or SharePoint:

1. Open the file.
2. Go to File > Info.
3. Select Version History.
4. Pick the version from earlier today (or before) and select Restore.
5. Restore the entire OneDrive to an earlier time If many files were moved, deleted, or changed at once, and there is a Microsoft 365 subscription on the account, OneDrive can be rolled back:
6. Go to the OneDrive website and sign in with the correct account.
7. At the top of the page, select Settings > Options.
8. In the left navigation, select Restore your OneDrive.
9. On the Restore page, choose a date from the dropdown (for example, Today or Yesterday) or select Custom date and time and pick a time from before your daughter made changes.
10. Use the activity chart and activity feed to review which actions will be undone.
11. When satisfied, select Restore to roll OneDrive back to that point.

Notes:

• The OneDrive restore feature is available for Microsoft 365 subscribers and can undo actions on files and folders within the last 30 days.
• When restoring, files or folders created after the restore point are moved to the OneDrive Recycle Bin and can be restored from there if needed.
• If some content was changed only in Office documents (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) but not deleted, Version History is often the quickest way to get back to earlier content.

If some items were moved out of OneDrive to iCloud or local storage, they may need to be located using File Explorer/Finder or within iCloud separately, as OneDrive restore only affects content stored in OneDrive.
