I cannot open any office apps except outlook. I am asked to sign in but when i use my personal account it says it must be a work or school account. This only happened yesterday and i could access everything with no issue until then.

I have followed all the suggested solutions but clearing cached accounts uninstalling and reinstalling all the apps but nothings is working and so i can only access my documents online

Start Word (or Excel). Which accounts / e-mail addresses are listed at File > Account? The important thing is which account licenses the subscription (the far right of the File > Account screen). See also Diana's reply.

Check the same list of accounts that is shown if you click your avatar at the top right of the status bar. See the screen shot below.

Generally, you would want to keep both lists to a minimum.

    Hi Dearbhla,

By any chance have you recently sign in your work/school account to your device? If yes, then this might be one of the reason.

To fix it, you may need to disconnect your school/work account by going to Settings > Account > Access work/school > then disconnect.

Once done, restart your device > sign out from office app such as Word > sign in back.

Then check if it will allow now to sign in successfully using the personal account.
