Can Notepad++ Overtype/Replace be overridden

Question

Notepad++ is so much more useful than Notepad (IMHO). But I'm disappointed in one new "feature". Namely, an Insert text option is missing. For example, say I have this text string: adcfgh and I want to insert the missing letters so that it will read abcdefgh. Can't do it.
I apologize if this discussion is inappropriate for this site.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on Notepad and Notepad++. However, it is worth noting that Notepad++ is a third-party application, neither developed nor supported by Microsoft. So as you may have already suspected, Microsoft Q&A is generally not the best place for questions about its features or suggestions.

That said, based on what you described, it sounds like Notepad++ might have been in Overtype (Overwrite) mode, rather than lacking an insert feature. If the issue you faced is that typing new characters replaces existing characters instead of inserting between them, you can try to switch it to Insert (INS) mode:

1. Open Notepad++ > check the bottom-right corner of the window.
2. If it shows OVR, click it or press Insert (Ins) on your keyboard.
3. Test your acdfgh text string by inserting b in the middle.

However, if switching back to INS mode does not help, and you are referring to a specific Notepad++ behavior, I would recommend checking the application community. That would be the best source to confirm whether that feature was removed, or you can suggest a development.

I don't understand. Notepad++ is shown as an option in MS Windows 11, I should not expect support from the MS 11 forum aka Windows QA&?

Where then can I get support for Notepad++
