Save Cropped Image

Question

After cropping an image, hitting "save a copy" option does NOT work when adding that image to a picture folder. Worked fine for years and then stopped yesterday.

Hello, just got this issue on a few clients and found out the culprit after shutting down some processes. It came down to wpscloudsvr.exe which is a component of WPS Office. On the Task Manager I believe it comes as "WPS Office service program for service such as login and cloud storage".

Close it and all other WPS processes and the issue will go away.

Now you can either rename the EXE to anything else to make sure the process doesn't start up with the software or uninstall WPS Office. The EXE should be under C:\Users[Username]\AppData\Local\Kingsoft\WPS Office\12.1.0.28032\office6\wpscloudsvr.exe

If the "Save a copy" option in the Photos app is no longer saving cropped images, it may be related to the Photos app itself or the save location rather than the image file.

Please try these quick checks:

1, Repair the Photos app

• Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Photos > Advanced options
• Select Repair (if needed, try Reset)

2, Save to a different folder - try saving the cropped image to your Desktop instead of the Pictures folder.

3, Check the image file properties

• Right-click the original image > Properties
• Make sure Read-only is not enabled.

4, Update Microsoft Photos - open Microsoft Store and check for any available updates for the Photos app.

As an additional test, try cropping the same image in Paint and save it. If Paint saves successfully while Photos does not, this can help determine whether the issue is isolated to the Photos app.
