There is no Microsoft-documented link between Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.489.0 and OneDrive pausing; first check whether Windows has marked the current network as metered, because OneDrive automatically pauses on metered connections.^1^
Check the pause reason
- Select the OneDrive cloud icon in the taskbar notification area.
- Read the status shown at the top of the activity panel. If it says Paused, select the paused message or yellow box to resume syncing.
- Open Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi (or Ethernet) → select the connected network.
- If Metered connection is enabled and the connection does not need to be metered, turn it off.
- Reopen OneDrive and confirm that its status changes to Your files are synced or shows active synchronization.
A recent community report describes similar random pausing, but it has no accepted resolution and does not establish the Feature Experience Pack as the cause.^2^ The current Microsoft known-issues list also does not identify this Feature Experience Pack as causing automatic pauses.^3^
If it pauses again on a non-metered connection
Check the cloud icon immediately after the pause and note the exact status or error. Also verify:
- Storage: A full Microsoft storage allocation prevents uploading, editing, and syncing new files.^4^
- Client version: OneDrive cloud icon → Help & Settings → Settings → About. This identifies the OneDrive build independently of the Windows Feature Experience Pack.^5^
- Specific files: If pausing consistently follows changes to one file or folder, look for duplicate filenames or simultaneous edits from another PC, which can cause sync conflicts.^6^
Reset the sync client if no reason is displayed
A reset is appropriate if the network is not metered, storage is available, and OneDrive continues pausing without a useful error. It does not delete cloud or local data, but it resets OneDrive settings and triggers a full synchronization.^7^
- Press Windows+R.
- Enter:
%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe /reset
- If Windows cannot find it, try:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft OneDrive\OneDrive.exe /reset
- If necessary, try:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\OneDrive.exe /reset
- Open Start, type OneDrive, and launch the OneDrive desktop app.
- Allow the full synchronization to finish and check whether pausing recurs.
If it still pauses, report the exact text displayed in the OneDrive activity panel, the OneDrive version from Settings → About, and whether it happens after a particular file starts syncing. Those details are needed to distinguish an account, file-conflict, network, or client-build issue.
