Azure Site Recovery Setup - On-Prem Physical Servers Options Greyed Out - No Passphrase

Hello,

Deployed and in the middle of setting up ASR appliance for VMware/physical machines. I am using physical machines option - but whatever option selected - it has option greyed out. I have rebuild but issue remains and have issue. If you skip past it (to setup later) and have it register to Azure - it works. But have issue with getting physical machines to replicate even after installing Windows agent for passphrase. Appliance does not have /home folder and no passphrase during setup. So no machines are replicating to appliance. Any help?

Have you already installed and configured the Process Server requested by the ASR in your On-Prem environment?

@Cody Jones - Sorry for the inconvenience caused!

I noticed that you have mentioned that 'setting up ASR and the option for physical servers is grayed out'. Could you please check if you are using Preview Appliance or Classic Appliance, it should not be a problem with Classic but the one in preview only works with VMWare and not physical.

We initially enabled protection for a physical server, which was in the process of syncing when we stopped it and disabled replication. As a result, the server was removed from the Replicated Items. Now, we want to start protecting the server again, but the option to replicate is not available and the server appears greyed out with the error message "Machine is already protected by Azure Site Recovery." How can we restart the replication of this previously protected server?

@Vijay Kumar It seems that you are trying to restart the replication of a previously protected physical server, but the option to replicate is not available and the server appears greyed out with the error message "Machine is already protected by Azure Site Recovery."

To restart the replication of this previously protected server, you can try the following steps:

Go to the Azure portal and select the Recovery Services vault that contains the protected server.

In the left-hand menu, select "Site Recovery Infrastructure" and then select "Servers."

Find the protected server in the list and select it. In the server details pane, select "Replicate Application."

In the "Replicate Application" pane, select the appropriate replication policy and click on "Enable Replication."

Follow the prompts to configure the replication settings for the server.

If the server still appears greyed out and the option to replicate is not available, it is possible that the server is still registered with Azure Site Recovery. In this case, you can try the following steps:

Go to the Azure portal and select the Recovery Services vault that contains the protected server.

In the left-hand menu, select "Site Recovery Infrastructure" and then select "Servers."

Find the protected server in the list and select it. In the server details pane, select "Unregister."

Follow the prompts to unregister the server.

Once the server is unregistered, you should be able to replicate it again using the steps outlined above.
