Does the "pro-rated" Billing for DDoS Protection apply to the "extra" Public IPs beyond the first 100 IPs

Hello Team,

The 3rd FAQ on the Azure DDoS Protection pricing page: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/ddos-protection/
Reads as below:

Q: If I use DDoS Protection for a portion of the month, will the fees be different?

A: If your DDoS Protection service is active for the entire month, you will be charged the monthly fee regardless of usage.
However, if your service was active only for a portion of the month, you would only receive a prorated bill for the hours used.

Does the pro-rating of charge apply to the Public IPs above the 100 per month limit?
Let me take “Example 3” from the pricing page and modify it to clarify my ask.

In Example 3:

Total monthly bill for DDoS Standard will be (A) ¥374,199/month + (B) ¥3,742.0 per resource per month (10 public IPs above the base 100) = ¥377,941/month.

If halfway through the month, if the Cx removes (B) the10 public IPs using Clean up resources (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ddos-protection/manage-ddos-protection#clean-up-resources)
would the (B) portion of the charge be prorated for just half of the month?

Here is a simpler example

If for the majority of the month exactly 100 Public IPs were being protected, but on 1 day mid-month, there was a 1 day spike where 1000 Public IPs were protected.

Would the cost be:

(A) ¥374,199/month for first 100 IPs + ( (B) ¥3,742.0 x additional 900 IPs / 30 days )
* (B) prorated for just the 1 day additional 900 Public IPs were protected

OR is the highwater mark of (B) used to calculate how many Public IPs were protected that month?
(A) ¥374,199/month for first 100 IPs + ( (B) ¥3,742.0 x additional 900 IPs )

Thank you in advance for your time and expertise

Hello @Peter Thurwachter (MINDTREE LIMITED) ,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & hope you are doing well.

I understand that you would like to understand if the the pro-rated billing for DDoS Protection apply to the extra Public IPs beyond the first 100 IPs.

Yes, if your service was active only for a portion of the month, you would only receive a prorated bill for the hours used and this covers the additional Public IPs beyond the first 100 IPs.

If for the majority of the month exactly 100 Public IPs were being protected, but on 1 day mid-month, there was a 1 day spike where 1000 Public IPs were protected.

A month has around 740 hours, so the cost per hour for additional IPs is ¥5.06 (¥3,742.0/~740 hours). So, this is the value you use on calculation for additional IPs which you don’t use for the whole month.

The charges would be as below:
    (A) ¥374,199/month for first 100 IPs
    (B) 900 IPs for 1 day. 1 day has 24 hours, so ¥5.06 X 24 hours X 900 additional IPs = ¥109,296

    Total bill = (A) + (B) = ¥483,495

Kindly let us know if the above helps or you need further assistance on this issue.
