PostgreSQL - Flexible server maintenance taking forever

Hi.
I was trying to troubleshoot an issue in our Test subscription last night when I realized that our "PostgreSQL - Flexible server" instance was taken offline for maintenance, with the message:
The scheduled maintenance for your Azure Database for PostgreSQL - Flexible server is taking longer than expected. The server will be available as soon the maintenance task completes.

A few questions:

Can this happen to any of our subscriptions, including Production? Random 24hour+ outages? That is pretty scary.
How is this acceptable? We're going on over 1 day of outage at this point. It's just a Test environment, but still, I've got stuff to do! How much longer can I expect at this point?

Hi @wup , welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum and sorry for the trouble you are facing.

Generally the maintenance should be completed for individually servers much before that based on transactional activities. However in your case this looks like something else. I am once checking with internal product team and will get back to you at the earliest.

We've had the same issue yesterday with our Azure PostgreSQL Flexible server, that was "under maintenance" without prior notification, and no indication as to how long the server would be out of action.

This morning the server is back up, apparently the maintenance has completed, so all is good, but we are very concerned as to this occuring without any warning.

The implications for us should this be in a Live environment could be catastrophic.

Could you provide further details about the maintenance, what it involved, and also when, under what circumnstances this will occur in the future?
