Hi Everyone,

I am trying to configure Public DNS record using Azure Public DNS service and I have named JPAzure.com. I was under impression that Azure will automatically add the my custom DNS record into the Azure public DNS servers and provide me with routable DNS record.
However, when I try to ping it from external networks, it does not work. Could you please advise or correct me to the right direction ?

Thanks
Jp

    Greetings,

To host your domain in Azure DNS, you need to create DNS zone for that domain name (ex: JPAzure.com) along with DNS record set. So, you should create 'A' record to resolve a host name to an IPv4 address and then configure the Azure DNS name servers at a domain name registrar so that anyone on the Internet will be able to resolve the host name to connect to your web server or app.

Here is an article explaining domain hosting in Azure DNS.
