Azure VM data transfer excess

I am using the Azure VM calculator to determine the price of our virtual machine. During this setup the outbound data transfer is asked. What happens if I set this data transfer to 250GB and I exceed this limit? Will we have to pay the exceeding data transfer or will our account be suspended? I think the suspension only happens on trial accounts, so that is not likely. Does exceeding the data limit bring any additional costs or does it follow the same cost table as explained here https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/bandwidth/ ?

    Hi @Robiin ,

Thanks for the question. The Pricing Calculator I think you are using is intended to offer insights to how much it will cost for your desired deployment. The bandwidth section is intended to allow you to forecast your potential expenses. If you exceed the bandwidth you inputted into the calculator your expenses will increase higher then you expected, your account will not be suspended. The cost table here outlines the cost brackets for outbound data transfers. As you can see if your transferring 250GB from a Central US VM a month you will be paying $0.087 per GB. You won't start paying more per GB until you start transferring more than 10 TB a month. Hope this helps!
