Recommended print drivers for the Universal Print connector and known driver issues

  • We recommend using print drivers that are "V4" (or sometimes "Type 4") and "Universal" for printers being registered through the Universal Print connector. Consult your printer manufacturer's website for drivers that are compatible with your printer model.
  • Other drivers may work, but if you encounter issues such as missing print options or incorrect output, try creating a test printer with one of the recommended drivers and then change to that driver if it works better. If you need to change drivers, follow the instructions here.

Known driver issues

  • Brother print driver - All jobs are failing and show as "Aborted" in Azure Portal
    • Follow the instructions here.
  • Konica Minolta - Unable to select/see Paper Source options
    • Change to Konica Minolta's "V4 Universal Print Driver".
  • OKI - Unable to select/see Paper Source options
    • Change to OKI's "Universal PCL5 Printer Driver".
  • RICOH - Prints only 1 copy even though user specified multiple copies or printer prompts user to manually select tray
    • Change the printer's default media type, both in the settings on the connector host machine and at the printer itself, to "Plain" instead of "Plain 2" or "Standard Recycled". "Plain 2" and "Standard Recycled" are manufacturer-specific media types that Universal Print is unable to handle. If this does not help, contact customer support.
