I was trying to go through a tutoria on Azure Machine learning service and suddenly I encountered a problem with creating a resource group with Azure for Students subscribtion.

In addition, my friend who has Azure for Students as well doesn't have such problem.

    I solved the problem.
I signed up again for the "Azure for Students" and the system revalidated my account. Then I received another subscribtion "Azure for Students" (different id) and with that new one I am allowed to create resource groups.

    Hi Do,

just a question... is this subscription your personal one or do you get that subscription from your university?

If it is your personal one, then open a service request.
If it is part of your university, there seems to be a permission issue within the university subscription, get in contact with your IT support.

Creating an RG is one of the main tasks in Azure, so I think this is a permission issue with your account.

I hope my answer is helpful to you,

    Your

For me the problem was that I registered my student subscription into my formal university account on Microsoft, instead of my personal account. This led to conflicts as I was working in the faculty directory or workspace, which I had no permissions in.

The solution was to sign out of Azure, sign in with my personal account, and walk through the student subscription again.

Try this, it could be your situation.
