Can't amend or stop forwarder is EAC - resource not found

In EAC, Recipients, Mailbox I can no longer change the forwarding address, delete the old one, or switch off forwarding. This is a particular issue as emails are being received by someone who should not get them - and who doesn't want to get them.

    Can you use powershell?

    set-mailbox <user>  -ForwardingAddress $null  -ForwardingSmtpAddress $null

    Please check if you created an automatic forwarding rule in the mail flow rule.

    Also, check whether the mailbox rule is set up in the mailbox.
