Getting started with setting up Exchange with users

I will be developing an integration for Exchange and so I need to setup a local development environment so that I can experiment locally with the setup. I have never dealt with setting up Exchange (or LDAP, if that is needed?) before and so I am at a bit of a loss as to getting started!

I need to get to a stage where I can query Exchange for calendars and their events for a given user. That implies that it knows about users and that I have somehow added those users to Exchange.

Could I get some pointers on where to start with the admin side of things for Exchange (on-premise, 2016 version) and/or Exchange Online?

     Hi @Carl-Erik Kopseng ,

For documentation on Exchange management, you can refer to the following two links. You can find the basics and operations of Exchange through the table of contents and search box on the left:

    Exchange online:

    Exchange Online | Microsoft Learn

    Exchange server 2016:

Exchange Server post-installation tasks | Microsoft Learn

If you need guidance on calendars and EWS, you could take a look at this documentation:

Calendars and EWS in Exchange | Microsoft Learn

Hope the above is helpful to you!
