Hello,

we are currently facing the problem that we have set up a print server. Unfortunately, the users now need administrator rights to install the drivers for the printers. Despite my attempts to work around this via policies, I have been unsuccessful so far.

Since I am relatively new to Windows servers, I would like to know if you guys have a solution to this problem and could help me out?

Thanks in advance for your support!

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out.

Make sure the print driver is packaged by checking PrintManagement.msc. This column might need to be added to Print Management Console.

Windows will prompt you with a message asking if you trust the server if the print driver is NOT packaged. You must provide administrative credentials if you trust the server.

To replace the outdated version on the print server, ask the printer vendor for a Package Aware print driver.

    Hello,

    I had the same issue.

For me I fix it via GPO:
Computer Configuration --> administrative templates --> Printer --> Package Point and Print - Approved Servers

If you activate this policy and add the FQDN of your printserver it might solve your problem.
