UnderStand Advisor Log Analytics change Pricing Tier Recommendation

We have a Cost optimization Recommendation on Azure Advisor to change pricing tier.

The recommendation says the following:

Investigate changing to 300 GB/day Commitment Tier (check for effect of Defender or Sentinel benefits)

But the log ingestion is around 250 GB/day and in Usage and Estimate costs on Log Analytics Workspace Console, the Estimated monthly data ingestion costs on 200Gb/Day (current pricing tier) is less than estimation on 300Gb/Day Commitment Tier.

Could someone help us clarify this recommendation, and what is missing?

Another Question: On Cost Analysis we are able to see Pay-as-you-go Data Ingestion for Log Analytics workspaces using corresponding meter in Log Analytics Service.

But for this workspace we only can see it in Azure Monitor Service. When we not use PAYG data ingestion tier, the log analytics data ingestion costs appears associated to Azure Monitor service and not Log Analytics service?

Thanks

    Hi @Fábio Santos ,

Regarding the first question, the recommendation from Azure Advisor is to investigate changing to a 300 GB/day Commitment Tier for Log Analytics. While the estimated monthly data ingestion costs for the 200 GB/day pricing tier may be less than the estimation for the 300 GB/day Commitment Tier, the Commitment Tier can save up to 30% compared to Pay-As-You-Go pricing, as stated in the Azure Monitor Logs cost calculations and options documentation. Additionally, any usage above the commitment level is billed at the same price per GB as provided by the current commitment tier. Therefore, it may be worth investigating the potential cost savings of switching to a higher commitment tier.

Regarding the second question, the data ingestion costs for Log Analytics workspaces are associated with the Azure Monitor service, not the Log Analytics service, when not using the Pay-As-You-Go data ingestion tier. This is mentioned in the Azure Monitor Logs cost calculations and options documentation.
