How to integrate WOPI in my App without an Office Online Server

I'm enrolled in CSPP and working on integrating WOPI into my app. As I researched, it seems an Office Online Server is required as a client. However, I'm curious: Is there an alternative method to integrate WOPI without relying on an Office server?

    Office Oline Server works with products and services that support WOPI. These products, known as hosts, include SharePoint Server, and Exchange Server, or your files storage app.
