Azure OpenAI extension for code editor tools like Visual Studio

Hi,

We have deployed a model using Azure OpenAI and would like to use the same in Visual Studio Code editor and other code editor tools, like Eclipse.

Do we have any Microsoft certified/developed AzureOpenAI extension that we can use? I found one below but not sure how authentic it is and whether our data is safe if we use this extension.

To answer your question, Yes, Microsoft has developed an extension called Semantic Kernel Tools for Visual Studio Code that can be used with Azure OpenAI. This extension simplifies Semantic Kernel development and allows you to easily create new prompts and test them without needing to write any code.

Here are the steps to install and configure the extension:

Ensure that you have Visual Studio Code installed on your computer.

Open Visual Studio Code and press Shift+Control+X to bring up the Extensions marketplace.

In the Extensions menu, search for “Semantic Kernel Tools”.

Select Semantic Kernel Tools from the search results and click the Install button.

Wait for the installation to complete, then restart Visual Studio Code.

To connect the extension to your AI endpoint:

Open the Command Palette i.e., View -> Command Palette or Ctrl+Shift+P

If you have access to an Azure subscription that contains the Azure OpenAI resource you want to use:

Type “Add Azure OpenAI Endpoint” and you will be prompted for the following information:

Endpoint type, select “completion”

Allow the extension to sign in to Azure Portal

Select the subscription to use

Select the resource group which contains the Azure OpenAI resource

Select the Azure OpenAI resource

Select the Azure OpenAI model.

Please note that this extension is developed by Microsoft and your data will be handled according to Microsoft’s privacy policy.

However, for other code editors like Eclipse, there might not be a Microsoft developed Azure OpenAI extension available. You might need to check their respective marketplaces or extension stores for more information.

Thanks @navba-MSFT but this looks something different. I am looking for some easy AzureOpenAI extension for VS that can be used to generate/check/test codes etc. Just like we have this https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=AndrewButson.vscode-openai
