Hi Harmony Schmidt,
If we can’t open a specific application in Windows environment, it is either already running or corrupted or missing from the software assembly. The first thing we can try is to open Task Manager from a Task Bar in Windows, search for running tasks, locate problematic application and end the specific task.
Then, reopen the application. Whether you observe either frequent or intermittent behavior of such application, the machine should be examined. If we have a minor corruption that should be corrected following a troubleshooting mentioned below.
· Uninstall a program or a bundle (Microsoft Office) from the Program & features under Control Panel and from Apps under Settings. Note: Sometimes we have preinstalled versions of Microsoft Office Apps in several Windows machines, in such scenarios we are required to uninstall those applications as well.
· Delete Temporary files from a location mentioned below in Windows.
C:\Users_username_\AppData\Local\Temp
The ‘username’ highlighted above is the username assigned to your User Account in Windows, which can be identified if we open a location in file explorer i.e. C:\Users
· Run ‘Disk Cleanup’ and clean all parameters listed under it.
· Open ‘Command Prompt’ by running it as an Administrator and type ‘sfc /scannow’ and hit Enter.
· After completing the SFC scan, perform a Check Disk scan under the same Command Prompt window.
Type ‘CHKDSK /f’ and Hit Enter and then it will prompt for ‘Y/N’ for proceeding with the same operation.
Type ‘Y’ and hit Enter. Restart the machine, it may ask you to press any key to continue or to skip the scan, please ignore the prompt and let the machine go under repair.
· After the machine is restarted, reinstall Microsoft Office and test the application.
If you still face an issue with the same application, it is advised to contact Microsoft Support using a link mentioned below.
