We are a hybrid deployment. We use ADSync. Our mailboxes are migrated to exchange online. We have about 3 on prem mailboxes. Our hybrid exchange servers are 2019. We are using Microsoft Teams. We have Lync Server 2010 and Skype for business server 2015 in our environment. These servers are shut down. My colleagues think that all we need to do is remove them from AD since they are shut down and we have not had any issues. I don't think this is the proper way to do it. Will just removing the servers from AD work? Thanks for your help.

Do not do this. Make sure you have set up a hybrid configuration with microsoft Teams and have transferred all Users from the local pool to the cloud, otherwise you will have issues where Teams will detect your users as still homed on Premise.

If you simply Remove them you will also leave a lot of unnecessary fragments in the active directory - Also see the Microsoft Article on the Topic: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/hybrid/decommission-remove-on-prem#remove-your-on-premises-skype-for-business-deployment-1
