We are a hybrid deployment. We use ADSync. Our mailboxes are migrated to exchange online. We have about 3 on prem mailboxes. Our hybrid exchange servers are 2019. We are using Microsoft Teams. We have Lync Server 2010 and Skype for business server 2015 in our environment. These servers are shut down. My colleagues think that all we need to do is remove them from AD since they are shut down and we have not had any issues. I don't think this is the proper way to do it. Will just removing the servers from AD work? Thanks for your help.

Do not do this. Make sure you have set up a hybrid configuration with microsoft Teams and have transferred all Users from the local pool to the cloud, otherwise you will have issues where Teams will detect your users as still homed on Premise.

Thank you for responding. Would you mind explaining the hybrid configuration with Teams and transferring the users? All our users are in Teams and using Teams instead of the on-premises Skype. The skype server is powered down. The Lync server has been powered down for over a year.
Certainly - The isue is that the onPremises Skype for Business Server installation tracks a lot of user Information in Active Directory - these are synced to Entra ID with ADSync by Default. The OnPremises Properties are therefore part of the cloud user objects, and leads to different treatment of these users by the Teams Service. For Example, if you use the Teams PowerShell to quiry users you might find OnPremLineURI being set. By Establishing a Hybrid connection and usign the appropriate Mechanisms to fully move users to the cloud the attached information is updated.
