Good Day

1

Some time ago I backed up Windows server 2012 to remote folder in NAS over LAN. This computer broke down and I need to use different PC also with Win Server 2012.

When I try to restore old backup I receive error "The specified remote shared folder does not contain any backup. Provide the path to a remote shared folder that contains backups."

Is it because hardware changed?

Is if possible to instead of using network location, move backup to USB and restore from USB or local folder e.g. c: ?

regards

Bartosz

    Hi,
Always it will need to keep the backup folder in its original path for running a restore.
do you make the backup to this remote share or you move the backup from another location to this share?
If you move from another location, please keep the backup folder in its original path for running a restore.
If that is the original location, please give the path to the parent folder of WindowsImageBackup folder.
    E.g.: \<share">\<computer>\<share>
You could check the link below to see the video about ensure proper Windows Backup restore from network location.

Using external usb disk to recover is the same.

    Thank You for Your reply.
Backups were moved into new folders, and then renamed etc. so it's a mess
I did not realise this would be an issue.
I tried to restore original folders and locations but this is what I see:
    Error
The provided share path is longer than Windows Backup can support. The maximum network pat supported is 110 characters.

Is no longer than 50 characters.
It looks like we need to invest into 3rd party backup software.
    Can You recommend one?
no Linux just Windows environment computers
    regards
