Multi-Itinerary Optimization API for Azure map

Hi,

We wanted to utilize Azure Maps, but we're currently utilizing Bing Maps. However, we were unable to locate the Multi-Itinerary Optimization API for Azure Maps. Is the Multi-Itinerary Optimization API available for Azure Maps? If not, are there any alternative solutions available.

I'll leave a comment for now and hopefully someone on the Azure Maps team can provide the official answer. Currently Azure Maps doesn't have this API. The closest API's would be the route API which can optimize the order of waypoints to create the shortest path between each destination, however this would be treated as a single trip (one agent, one shift). The route matrix API could be used to provide the insights needed to power a Multi-Itinerary Optimization, but again doesn't provide the specific functionality that the Bing Maps API provides. That said, we have seen several Bing Maps API's ported over to Azure Maps this past year and there likely will be more ported over in the future. I don't know the plans for the Multi-Itinerary Optimization API, but I would hope it's on their list of API's to port over.

As it has already been pointed out, there is no multi-itinerary optimization (MIO) equivalent in Azure Maps however it can be built with a combination of Azure Maps Route Matrix API and an optimization engine. Here is a sample to get you started on a custom solution using Route Matrix API that can be deployed as an Azure Function to create an endpoint with capabilities similar to MIO - AzureMapsDIYOptimizer
