Hello everyone,

I'm currently evaluating various VM sizes and families for deployment in my production environment, where I primarily run Power Automate and Chrome for automation tasks.

I've been using VMs from the B-series family, but I've noticed that they become quite slow after some time. I would like to understand better what "burstable" means and how the credits these VMs generate and consume automatically work. This concept is still quite confusing to me.

Any insights or explanations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

In the context of Azure VMs, "burstable" refers to the ability of a VM to utilize more than its baseline CPU performance when the workload demands it. This is made possible by a credit-based model.

Here's how it works: The VM accumulates credits when its IOPS or MB/s usage is below its performance target. The accumulated credits can then be used to burst above the performance limits for up to 30 minutes at the maximum burst rate. The credits can be spent at the user's discretion, and the burst bucket does not need to be full for the VM to burst.

It's important to note that VM-level bursting only uses the credit-based model for bursting, and it is enabled by default for most Premium Storage supported VMs.

I still have some doubts.

1 - Can I see how many credits a VM has accumulated / have in real time?

2 - Do I need to pay for these credits?
3 - What happens when these credits "expires" ?

4 - The VM works properly when the credits are expired? Cause I notice a HUGE drop in performance, focused on CPU
