Trouble Installing KB4586830 Server 2016

Question

I have several Windows Server 2016 devices and I am getting no where with installing the latest Update KB4586830.
It has attempted many times and gets to about 75% installed and then rolls back.
I have tried using the Update Catalog version and manually installing as well as the one being driven from the WSUS.
I don't get an error code to investigate, just a roll back and it prompts another attempt.
Any ideas gratefully received.

Hi,

Please try below steps to rename SoftwareDistribution folder:
net stop wuauserv
Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
net start wuauserv

Then, re-start system in Clean Boot with 3rd party process disabled, and try to check/install update again to check the result.

Some things to try;

• sfc /scannow
• dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
• https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4027322/windows-update-troubleshooter
• https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/update/windows-update-resources#reset-windows-update-components-manually
• or possibly removing the most recent successful cumulative update. and try installing latest update again.
