Hi,

I've asked the same question at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/unable-to-successfully-add-bot-as-skype-contact/eddf7c77-7ec1-4f2f-807d-380f338d4543?rtAction=1719646987124, and the specialist suggested that I ask it here.

Currently, my job requires me to develop an intelligent customer service chatbot. Our customers mainly contact our customer service specialists through Skype.

I have seen documents mentioning that after the end of 2019, Skype will no longer support new bot development. However, a post https://www.skype.com/en/blogs/2023-12-skype-third-party-bots/ posted in 2023 mentioned that Skype bots are again supported.

So I tried creating an Azure bot and enabled the Skype channel, but I couldn't successfully add the bot as a Skype contact.

According to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/bot-service/bot-service-channel-connect-skype?view=azure-bot-service-4.0, it mentioned it has to be an existing bot previously connected to Skype. I just want to confirm whether Skype currently only supports existing bots, and newly created bots are not allowed to register and operate?

@Yu Ren Ke Yes, existing bots that are published and were/are previoulsy connected to skype can continue to use the skype channel. If you have created a new bot and published it then you would not be able to use this channel with your bot. Thanks!!
