Hi dear team,

I see some official docs and videos which introduce 'Azure AI Studio', it can also does fine-tuning and deployment, for generative AI models. Considering NLP model train/deploy/fine-tuning, what is the difference between 'Azure AI Studio' and 'Azure Machine Learning'? For example, which to choose for fine-tuning a BART model for text summarization task, which to choose for fine-tuning a BERT model for text classification task?

I note that when trying to create something in 'AI Studio', the user has to fill 'Connect AI Services incl. OpenAI' ( 'Azure AI services base models') , this is mandatory, what does this mean?

Thank you!

LuLi Greetings & Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum, Thank you for posting your query here!

Azure AI Studio and Azure Machine Learning are both powerful tools for building and deploying machine learning models, but they have some differences in their capabilities and intended use cases.

Azure AI Studio is a web-based platform that provides a low-code environment for building and deploying AI models. It includes a range of pre-built AI models that can be customized and fine-tuned for specific use cases, as well as tools for data preparation, model training, and deployment. Azure AI Studio is designed to be accessible to users with a range of technical backgrounds, and it can be a good choice for users who want to quickly build and deploy AI models without needing to write a lot of code.

Azure Machine Learning, on the other hand, is a more powerful and flexible platform for building and deploying machine learning models. It includes a range of tools for data preparation, model training, and deployment, as well as support for a wide range of machine learning frameworks and languages. Azure Machine Learning is designed for users who have more experience with machine learning and want to have more control over the model-building process.

For fine-tuning a BART model for text summarization task, I would recommend using Azure Machine Learning. Azure Machine Learning provides a more flexible and powerful environment for fine-tuning models, and it supports a wide range of machine learning frameworks and languages. For fine-tuning a BERT model for text classification task, both Azure AI Studio and Azure Machine Learning could be good choices, depending on your level of experience and the specific requirements of your project. If you are comfortable with low-code environments and want to quickly build and deploy a model, Azure AI Studio could be a good choice. If you want more control over the model-building process and need to use a specific machine learning framework or language, Azure Machine Learning might be a better choice.

Thank you for your detailed explanation, that's very informative! Could you please explain my 2nd question above as well? "when trying to create something in 'AI Studio', the user has to fill 'Connect AI Services incl. OpenAI' ( 'Azure AI services base models') , this is mandatory, what does this mean?" Thank you again!
