Sharing files, folders or items to External users on OneDrive

Please i need your help on this issue. 

How to share a file an external user who uses Gmail account on OneDrive.

We followed this steps but still the user cannot open the files 

Here are the steps:

1.Go to OneDrive and sign in with your Microsoft account.

2.Navigate to the file or folder you want to share and select it.

3.Click the "Share" button.

4. In the "Send link" dialog box, click the down arrow to change the type of link.
5. Choose "Anyone with the link" if you want the link to be accessible to anyone who has it.

But When the Gmail user try to open the files it says they need to login to their Microsoft account. 

 

But when we use drobox the user is able to open the files. 

However, this link is saying “ to Which sharing invitations are sent”.

We don’t want to send invitation to anyone, instead we would like anyone could open the link without sending invitation.

Is there any solution for this?

Hi,

If you sign in with a work or school account, you can send a link to specific people, either inside or outside of your organization.

If you sign in with a Microsoft personal account, you can only choose people who also have Microsoft personal account.

This is by design behavior for sharing files to external user, hope the information is helpful.
