Why do managed metadata column filters become corrupt in SharePoint lists?

Our SharePoint list with a Managed Metadata column experiences periodic corruption of its view filters. As shown in the screenshot, the filter values will be duplicated, once displaying the term set label and once with the label and guid. Each time this happens, we need to r
eindex the library to fix it, causing user inconvenience when searching for their documents. Can anyone explain what causes this corruption in filter values?
