Cannot authenticate with organizational account using MFA in MS Outlook for iPhone iOS because Outlook launches Authenticator to give a 2 digit code, but Authenticator then never prompts for this code.

  1. I had a second factor set up in mysignins for my organizational account, but it was not yet enforced.
  2. Enforcement began last week.
  3. I am able to log into o365 and the Apple MacOS edition of MS Outlook using Microsoft Authenticator as my second factor on my iPhone. In both cases, I am prompted for a 2 digit number, and then I am prompted on my iPhone in the authenticator app to enter that number.
  4. On the iPhone when I attempt to log in using Outlook, I am redirected to authenticator where I can view the 2 digit code.
  5. Then I am not prompted for the code, nor do I find a way to enter that code in authenticator. There is no way to hide the code so that I can see a prompt either - I am only allowed to dismiss the window or modal or whatever it is called which displays the number.
  6. Authentication fails.
