I got an error that I cannot connect to SQL while demoing olap. I cannot connect to SQL and it asks me to enter "user id" and "password"

No, it does not ask you to enter user-id/password, but it is giving you the options to change the credentials you are trying to connect with. That is not going to help in this case, as the error message means that the SQL Server instance you are trying to connect to does not exist or is not running.

I have never worked with SQL Server Analysis Services, so I can't help you with the details, but there is something in your configuration you need to review.

From the error message you provided, could you please verify:

The instance is running in SQL Server Configuration Manager

SQL Server Browser is running in SQL Server Configuration Manager

Try to connect to SQL Server with SSMS

If the port number of the SQL Server Service is blocked by a firewall

In addition, we need more information to locate the cause of error accurately. Could you please post the detailed Application log in the [Window Log] to help us narrow down the issue?

I still haven't solved that error.When running data source view in visual code it shows this error "A network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. For more information see SQL Server Books Online.

Client unable to establish connection

Registry information is corrupt or missing. Make sure the provider is installed and registered correctly."

You still have not shown us how have configured the connection to SQL Server in the data source. All we can do is give you advice about troubleshooting. We don't have access to your environment, so we can do the troubleshooting for you.

That is your connection in SSMS, which seems to be working. But this obviously not what you are using when you are working with the Data Source Wizard in the screenshot above. Please show all steps in the wizard before you get the error.
