How to Deploy my Code to App Service through Git Bash or Visual Studio Community 2022?

While on the Deploy your code to App Service (Exercise) exercise, I am having trouble deploying code to my Web app on Microsoft Azure, which is currently running and waiting for content. Although the Web app was created on the Azure Portal and cloned a Git URL through Visual Studio 2022 for a Git Bash deployment, I am still having trouble deploying code. Where exactly might I be misunderstanding? Can you assist?

Hello,

The error currently showing is one on Visual Studio 2022: 'Failed to push to the remote repository. See the output window.' (although no details are shown), and a Git Bash response: 'No such file or directory' when trying to deploy. The Azure App Logs are timed, and there are no error logs at the moment. The Publishing details can be downloaded from the Azure App, although the "dotnet publish -o pub" deploying code could not go through on either platform.

Hello,

This may be due to the Azure Publishing profile misconfiguration or missing .csproj errors.

Please try to publish it in the local folder and deploy it to Azure using CLI. Please follow the steps below.

Manually publish to folder

mkdir pub dotnet publish -c Release -o pub

Deploy Manually to Azure using Azure CLI

Make sure Azure CLI is installed

Fill the parameters from Line 1 to Line 5

For App service username and password, Go to the Deployment center in App service and copy the username and password

$resourcegroup = "<Resource GROUP NAME>" $name = "<APP SERVICE NAME>" $filePath = "<Publish PATH>" $username = "<APP SERVICE UserName>" $password = "<APP SERVICE PASSWORD>" az webapp deployment user set --user-name $username --password $password az webapp deployment source config-zip --resource-group $resourcegroup --name $name --src $filePath

The deployment was successful, as indicated on the ActiviLog Details (below). However, after refreshing my web app browser, which was running and waiting for content, an Error message stating, 'You do not have permission to view this directory or page,' started showing. Could the Page layout be unexpected due to Quick Mode or my deployment settings?

Also while trying to upgrade Azure-CLI (2.68.0) to 2.69.0-x64.user with code: $ProgressPreference = 'SilentlyContinue'; Invoke-WebRequest -Uri https://aka.ms/installazurecliwindowsx64 -OutFile .\AzureCLI.msi; Start-Process msiexec.exe -Wait -ArgumentList '/I AzureCLI.msi /quiet'; Remove-Item .\AzureCLI.msi could not go through Azure CLI with the current version 2.68.0. How else could I upgrade Azure CLI?

You do not have permission to view this directory or page this error usually happens when:

Your web app is pointing to the wrong directory.

I use below commands to successfully deploy my Web app using Azure Cli.

Run the following command to generate the required files for publishing:
dotnet publish -c Release -o <output-folder>
Log in to your Azure account by running: az login
Before deploying, zip the <output-folder> generated in step 1.
Deploy the zipped file to Azure using the following command:

az webapp deploy --resource-group <ResourceGroupName> --name <WebAppName> --src-path <ZipPath>

After running the above command, your app will be successfully deployed to Azure.

Check the Kudu Console for where your files are deployed in Azure App service using below URL:

https://<WebAppName>.scm.canadacentral-01.azurewebsites.net/DebugConsole

In my case my files are under site -> wwwroot -> publish:

I changed the virtual path from site\wwwroot to site\wwwroot\publish by navigating to:

Azure Web App -> Configuration -> path Mapping -> Virtual Path -> Edit - > Ok -> save:

By following above steps, It Avoid you don't have permission error.

Although this seems to be the direct way of deploying to the Web App, the same error still appears: 'You do not have permission to view this page or directory.' I also tried publishing to the folder with overriding perimeters manually. A previous deployment, which was running and awaiting content, had already been successful.

And also, how else can I upgrade my Azure CLI as any of these codes are not coming through: $ProgressPreference = 'SilentlyContinue'; Invoke-WebRequest -Uri https://aka.ms/installazurecliwindows -OutFile .\AzureCLI.msi; Start-Process msiexec.exe -Wait -ArgumentList '/I AzureCLI.msi /quiet'; Remove-Item .\AzureCLI.msi and: $ProgressPreference = 'SilentlyContinue'; Invoke-WebRequest -Uri https://azcliprod.blob.core.windows.net/msi/azure-cli-2.51.0.msi -OutFile .\AzureCLI.msi; Start-Process msiexec.exe -Wait -ArgumentList '/I AzureCLI.msi /quiet'; Remove-Item .\AzureCLI.msi of which I tried several times after the instructions from: az upgrade?
