I am building a reference machine where I have customized the desktop of the local admin account and want to copy that over to the default profile before sysprep wipes out the admin profile. The problem resides when I use the SCCM capture image wizard. After I have prepared the reference image with my profile customizations and I run the SCCM capture image wizard, (which sysprep is built in to the capture image wizard) sysprep wipes out the default admin profile.

Thanks for posting in Microsoft MECM Q&A forum.
Based on my experience, CopyProfile does need to be set in the unattend.xml file that is used to deploy the image, not the one used to capture it and it will use the profile that was modified last. Please do not miss the step of deploying the image with the unattended answer file.

If possible to duplicate the results with scripts, that's the way to go, skipping any manual steps when building a machine.
What customizations are you doing that you'd like applied to other profiles?
Have captured the image with doing sysprep with copyprofile unattend.xml the same image if restore works with no issue, the same image if i import and deploy the copy profile is not working for the new user logon
Folder setting's , Control Panel, Desktop settings (This PC, Network, Arrange icon,small icons custmization) does't apply.
You're trying to create shortcuts on the Desktop, as well as change a preference for the Control Panel to use Small Icons instead of the default?
Desktop Shortcuts you can typically script.
This might be a good time to re-evaluate, why do we do this? Because we always have, or is there a business requirement to have these settings this way? Perhaps you don't need to do this, allow users to pick what they need.
In the long run, getting away from a build & capture might save you a lot of work, and reduce risk.
Start with Native Microsoft Media that has been serviced, and allow your OSD Task Sequence to do the rest.
You can add the "This PC" icon to the desktop with this:

I've never seen anyone use the network icon
Other personal preferences, like setting small icons, I'd suggest seeing if their is a busines reason to do that, otherwise leave it alone. The less you customize, the easier your life will be.
