Yes, that is correct, Windows 10 will still work normally after October 2026, however, you would not receive any Security Updates after that date.
Windows 10 support
On October 14, 2025 will reach the end of support. I have read we have to pay to keep it. is it true or false. I would like to know as I am thinking of either getting a used one or down grading mt current one back to 10.

Everything comes to an end eventually. Windows 7, which was released on October 22, 2009, was fully supported by Microsoft until January 14, 2020. Microsoft isn't likely to repeat that with Windows 10.

However, they have relented due to the amount of people that are unable to upgrade to Windows 11, they announced a week ago that they will offer everyone one year of free extended support for Windows 10 up to October 2026, the only thing you need to do is to ensure you log into Windows 10 with a Microsoft account and sync your settings to your account and you will automatically receive the 1 year of extended support automatically.
