I am confused. I have a Microsoft Surface Go. I find it only takes front facing photos. Is this accurate?

Am I NOT ABLE to take videos nor photographs in REAR FACING mode?

PLEASE, PLEASE ADVISE.

    Hello Migdalia,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having issues taking photos and videos using rear-facing mode of your Surface Go. I am here willing to help and together let's isolate this issue. For me to fully understand the issue, allow me to ask some questions:

    • What source did you look up to in finding out that Surface Go only takes front facing photos?
    • Have you tried opening the camera app? Is there an error code?
    • Is this device newly purchased?

Basically, Surface Go device does have 5.0MP front-facing camera with 1080p Skype HD Video and 8.0 MP rear-facing autofocus camera with 1080p HD Video that you, customers, can use in taking photos or videos. Hence, definitely you can use the rear-facing camera of your Surface Go in taking videos and photos. However, if you are having issues with your rear-facing camera, here are some troubleshooting steps that you can do to isolate the issue:

    1. Try to force the device to restart by pressing and holding the power button for 20 seconds and release it once the windows logo appears on the screen.
    2. Check updates by going to Settings >> Windows Update >> Check for Updates. If there are any available updates, please install and make sure to restart the device to apply the changes.
    3. Try to reinstall camera drivers by going to Device Manager >> Cameras >> right-click the camera driver >> choose Uninstall >> Restart
    4. Download Drivers and Firmware for Surface Go device. Click this link: Download Surface Go [Wi-Fi] Drivers and Firmware. from Official Microsoft Download Center and click the blue download button and afterwards, open the file and install. Restart the device once done.

Please let us know if this works. Hope this helps!
