    1. I tried System Restore, thats what made Notepad not work.
    2. My cursor goes to Working In BG then goes to Busy, but nothing happens.
    3. I click on the notification, but it says: You don't have access to this feature: Call your IT Administrator, but i am the only user!
    4. Version 2004.
    5. Notepad does not do anything.

And no, i cannot use my phone.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing multiple issues on your computer. I’ll certainly assist you with this.

    However, please let us know:

    • Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?
    • When you say “Notepad won't work” what happens when you try to launch Notepad?
    • What is the error message that you receive for Windows Defender?
    • Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type: winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit Enter.

We can try to perform a system restore on your computer, which will restore the computer to an earlier date. To do this, refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows logo key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for ‘Run
    2. In Run dialog box, type rstrui and hit Enter.
    3. On the System Restore window click on Next
    4. Now select a System Restore point that is nearest to the date/time of the day when the changes were made.
    5. Click on Next and click on Finish.

Note: Restoring your PC won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

If restoring the system doesn’t work, we can perform an in-place upgrade on the computer. An in place upgrade will repair the corrupted system files and will upgrade the computer to the latest version of Windows as well.

To perform an in place upgrade on the computer, refer the steps mentioned in the article How to perform an In-place Upgrade with Windows 10 Step-by-Step Guide by PaulSey…

In case you still need remote assistance, you can get in touch with our Live Technical Support team by calling them. Please refer the article Global Customer Service phone numbers to get the Customer support number as per your country.

    1. None of them match my problem. 2. No, not really. One day, Notepad and Edge were working fine, the next day, Notepad wont work and Edge's address bar wont work properly. Since you were one to be here, reply with the code you get.

    Hi EpicWin294,

I'm Jen, an Independent Advisor and a Windows 10 user just like you. I understand you're having issues with Microsoft Edge and Notepad's function.

While you wait for help via Quick Assist, I'd like to recommend the troubleshooting steps for Microsoft Edge in the support link below to see if it solves the problem:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/4023560

At the same time, may I ask if you've made any recent changes prior to the issue so we can provide an additional solution?

    Best regards.
