many websites are not loading properly. I have wiped data and uninstalled the edge browser, but this makes no difference. All other browsers work ok, including chrome.

    Not always, I had to clear the Cache before deleting the application during a similar problem but with a virus.

    Thanks for replying. Doesn't uninstalling an app wipe the data and cache for that app. Does restarting the phone make any difference

    Although you've already tried reinstalling, doing so after clearing the cache and data completely might yield different results. Uninstall Edge, restart your device, and then reinstall Edge from the Google Play Store.

    You can find the "cache" in settings > Applications > Edge
