Improving performance and responsiveness of Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
When I open Edge - just a single tab - the Task Manager always shows that there are about 20 instances of it running. Commonly meaning >100% of Memory is being used - which means everything is terribly slow. How can I stop this happening?

Hi,
I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.
On Edge, go to:
edge://settings/system
Turn off:
Startup boost
Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed
This should be resolved.
Thank you.
Can you uncheck and reboot the computer?
Please download and run Autoruns:

Do you see any entry of msedge.exe?
Thank you - can you try to re-add the attachment aka screenshot?
No. this had no effect. Of course, closing down all Edge processes and then reopening, still the number of processes (17) far exceeds the one tab I have open - see attachment.
