Last week i have upgraded my laptop from Windows XP to Windows 7 Enterprise. I am using IBM Lenovo 3000/n100 model laptop. After installing the operating system and windows udpate alll my required drivers and udpates and hotfixes got installed properly. But while checking the device manager there are 2 errors showing for not able to get the drivers. Those are "Base System Device". While checking that entry, i am not able to get exact which driver is missing. I have tried on many ways to udpate through Windows Update and Lenovo Update but i am not able to get / identify which driver is missing. With this mail i am requesting you to kindly provide me a tool from which I can able to get the driver details for the installation.

Regards

Hi Srini,

Those hardware ID's are for the memory card reader. It looks like Lenovo does not support Windows 7 on this machine, but you can try the Vista drivers. Here's a link. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67298

Thanks,

Chris

    Hi,

I would suggest you to check the vendor id and hardware id from the device properties. And you can logon to the windows component catalog website and look for the device drivers, here is the link:

     http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/

To check vendor and hardware id’s follow these steps:

     1. Click on Start, type Device Manager in search box and open device manager.

    2. Right click on base system device, go to properties.

    3. Click on details, under property click on dropdown arrow, and select Hardware ids.

    4. Under Value you can find the VEN_ (alphanumeric code) and Dev_(alphanumeric code).

    5. Note down the alphanumeric code and search for the drivers from the above Microsoft link.

I would also suggest you to mail back with those codes, so that we can search for drivers and help you.

Please respond back with the status of the issue and let us know if you have any issues.
