Original title: Windows XP SP3 (spanish) Can not install MSXML 6.0 (english)

Hello,

Could you please help me solve the following issue:

I was installing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, and the message below appeared in the Summary related to the fail in the MSXML .dll.

The Windows Installer service cannot update the system file C:\WINDOWS\system32\msxml6r.dll because the file is protected by Windows.  You may need to update your operating system for this program to work correctly.

Is there any solution?

Thanks,

Petar

Please review the link below for suggestion:

    http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/361660/sql-server-express-2008-ins tallation-update-msxml6r-error

This is the workaround listed in the thread:

    Set SFCDisable to 2 in the registry (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/222473 / "%SystemRoot%\System32\REG.exe" ADD "\%ComputerName%\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v SFCDisable /t REG_DWORD /d 2 /f).

    Hope this helps.

    Marilyn

    Hi,

    Try these steps and check.

    a)      Open an administrator command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

    b)      If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    c)      Type the following command and press enter.

    regsvr32 msxml6r.dll
