onedrive and compression

I compressed my hard drive and by default it compressed the Onedrive files. Now I have 10 GB less on my hard drive than I did before compression. I believe these files are now local (the icon is the non-solid green tick which means locally available). I tried specifying online only (blue cloud icon). But it didn't respond.

How do I get these files off my computer and in the cloud only? I have some video that should be there.

Thank you.

    Hi Megan

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Make sure you’re signed in to OneDrive on your device.

Select the white or blue OneDrive cloud icon in the Windows taskbar notification area.

(You might need to click the Show hidden icons arrow The Show hidden icons button. next to the notification area to see the OneDrive icon. If the icon doesn't appear in the notification area, OneDrive might not be running. Select Start, type OneDrive in the search box, and then select OneDrive in the search results.)

    Select More > Settings.

On the Settings tab, select the Save space and download files as you use them box.

Mark a file or folder for offline use or as online-only

    Right-click a file or folder.

Select Always keep on this device or Free up space.
