I have tried changing my battery and charger but its still doing the same thing. Right now I am running on AC. I tried to update my Microsoft AC Adapter drive, but its saying that I use the most up to date drive. please I would like to know what I can do to make my laptop charge again.

I seriously need help and I will love it if anyone can be of help to me.

    Hi ifechuks

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

    Expand the Batteries section

For each device in that section:

    Right click and choose Uninstall

    Shut your laptop down

    Disconnect the power adapter

If you can, remove the battery from your laptop

Press and hold the Power button on your laptop for 30 seconds

Re-insert the battery, if you removed it

    Re-connect the power adapter

    Turn on your laptop

Check if your battery is charging . ..

Hi ifechuks. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Guardian Moderator here to help you.

See these fixes for Battery Not Charging:

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/troubleshoot-b...

    https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-battery-plugged-i...

Check the manufacturer's Support web page for your full model number to see if there is a battery issue or recall for it. Remember you have a full one year warranty for PC and parts replacement or repair so I'd use it if still available.

Run the battery re-calibration here: https://www.howtogeek.com/172271/how-to-calibra...

Then generate a battery report and post it back here: https://www.groovypost.com/howto/generate-batte...

Right click Start to open Device Manager, under Battery choose the battery device, then Driver tab, then if available Roll Back the driver. If not available, choose Uninstall Driver, restart PC to reinstall.

If this was caused by Windows Updates then you can check which were installed at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Installed Updates, then uninstall them from the link there, and hide with the Hide Updates tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

You can also use System Restore to get before the problem began, then check for Updates with the Hide Update tool and hide them: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

If this was caused by a Version Update then for 10 days you can roll it back in Settings>Update & Security>Recovery and then hide it until it matures using the Hide Updates Tool which is explained more here:

    https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninsta....

If nothing else helps then you might need to replace the battery. However I will tell you that most OEM after-market batteries and chargers have problems so I would only buy the official manufacturer's battery from the PC maker to be sure.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Hi. ifechuks

    My Name is David B.

Independent Advisor. I'd like to help.

In this case, first, check the Default power options. You can do this through the following steps:

    1. Press the Windows + X keys and select Control Panel.
    2. Click Hardware and Sound.
    3. Go to Power Options.
    4. Select on the left side of the window Choose the behavior of the start / stop buttons.
    5. Now click on Change settings currently unavailable.
    6. Finally, uncheck the Enable quick start (recommended) box and then click Save changes.
    7. Restart your device and check that it has been fixed.

However, if your computer is a DELL brand and has a Battery Input with a control method compatible with Microsoft ACPI, in this case do the following:

    1. Click Start and type device in the search field; then select Device Manager.
    2. Expand the Batteries category.
    3. Under the Batteries category, right-click on the Battery entry with control method compatible with Microsoft ACPI and select Uninstall.

    • You may see more than one.

    • WARNING: Do not remove the Microsoft AC adapter driver or any other ACPI-compatible driver.

    1. On the Device Manager taskbar, click Search for hardware changes.

    • Alternatively, select Action> Search for hardware changes.

    1. Windows will search your computer for hardware that does not have drivers installed and install the necessary drivers to manage battery power. Now the laptop should indicate that the battery is charging.
    2. If the problem still persists, try updating the chipset driver and restart the system.

    Regards…
